Sy-ki is an innovative electronic producer and vocalist from Rotterdam who creates Mytho Trip-Pop.
Studying producing at codarts, she delivers an intuitive, euphoric DIY live show that feels like a
continuous DJ set. A dancy trip from beginning to end, you cannot predict where she pulls you into
next. With her transparent storytelling she expresses her visions for a better future using ancient
mythology.
Tara Thomas started producing in 2020, she found a way to translate her soul through electronic
music where she couldnโt translate her feelings into words. โโMy feelings of injustice and caring
for all living creatures(especially doves) are very important as to why I chose to be an artist and
really take the next step on that stageโโ. She speaks about societal issues like the patriarchy,
capitalism and consent and hopes to contribute to an alternative societal system where we coexist in
peace and hope. She takes on this motive through her alter Ego sy-ki, originating from the Greek
goddess of the mind and soul: Psyche. A very courageous woman who fought for others and praised
love.
โโI remember first seeing Ratchet following me and he commented on my merch T-shirt video. I really
loved the world he created around Ratchet and all the work he put into it. It felt vulnerable and
true to him and I felt a connection through his artistry.โโ On Saturday 26-10-2024 she went to see
him on his show in Rotterdam in New Grounds with her boyfriend - and also artist - Finn Django. โโI
had so much fun finally seeing him in real life and after the show we began talking and settled once
and for all we should be doing a show together and combine our powers to an intimate eerie creepy
evening with candles and storytellingโโ. This was when the show Ratchet x sy-ki in The Kargadoor
came to life. โโWhen shooting the promo with Ratchet on Hoek van Holland - in the middle of winter
by the way - I remember we had a lot of fun and created a trauma bond cause we were almost freezing
to death. Iโm not exaggerating. He is super spontaneous and has so much kindness in his heart. Iโm
so happy we met and I hope we have more (and warmer) collabs in the future!โโ
